Brewers Sign Outfielder

He's getting a major-league contract.

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed outfielder Blake Perkins to a one-year contract.

Perkins has yet to play a game in the major leagues, so this contract is a great step for him to reaching that goal.

The switch-hitting outfielder signed a minor-league contract with the New York Yankees last season and slashed .246/.357/.456, with 15 home runs, 50 RBIs, 21 stolen bases and 59 runs scored across 329 at-bats between the Double-A and Triple-A levels.

For his minor-league career, the former second-round pick holds a .234/.339/.685 slash line, with 43 home runs, 231 RBIs, 126 stolen bases and 393 runs scored over 2,333 at-bats.

Perkins will give the Brewers some added bench depth next season.
