Boston Red Sox Still Trying to Sign Star Shortstop

While speaking with reporters, Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom noted that he still hopes to re-sign Xander Bogaerts even though the star shortstop opted out of his deal.

The Red Sox had all season to send Bogaerts an acceptable offer, but Bloom and company has not done that. Now, there's a very good chance that the four-time All-Star will be heading elsewhere, much to the dismay of the Red Sox faithful.

Now that other teams are fighting for Bogaerts' services, he should land a massive payday - whether it's with Boston or elsewhere. We will have to wait and see what happens from here, but it's clear that Boston will be aiming to sign him until the end.

In 150 games this season, Bogaerts had 15 home runs, 73 RBIs, and a .307 batting average.
