Twins Outright Starter and Relief Pitcher

They both passed through waivers unclaimed and have now been sent outright to Triple-A St. Paul by the Minnesota Twins.

The Twins have sent pitcher Devin Smeltzer outright to Triple-A St. Paul after he went through waivers unclaimed.

This one's a little surprising as Smeltzer appeared in 15 games for the Twins this past season, posting a decent 3.71 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 40 strikeouts over 70 innings of work. He made 12 starts. Smeltzer is a decent pitcher and, at just 27 years old, it's a little shocking that the Twins were willing to give up on him so soon.

The Twins have also sent pitcher Jhon Romero outright to Triple-A St. Paul.

Romero was dropped from the Twins 40-man roster and passed through waivers unclaimed. Romero only got into four games in the majors this season, before being shut down due to right biceps tendinitis in late April. He held a 3.60 ERA, 2.00 WHIP, and six strikeouts over five innings.
