Rays Recall Catcher

With Franciso Mejia heading to the paternity list, the Tampa Bay Rays had to recall another catcher to take his spot on the active roster.

As a result, the Rays have recalled catcher Rene Pinto from Triple-A Durham.
Pinto gets the call back to the majors after slashing an underwhelming .211/.241/.557, with two home runs, 10 RBIs, and five runs scored over 76 at-bats in the majors this season.

In the minors, the twenty-five-year-old has hit for a respectable .266 batting average, a .320 on-base percentage, with 14 home runs, 54 RBIs, one stolen base and 39 runs scored over 282 at-bats.

Pinto made his major league debut back on April 26 of this year.
