MLB Rumors: Tampa Bay Rays to Trade Infielder

According to Marc Topkin, Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi "seems to be on his way out." As a result of this news, we should expect to see the Rays shop Choi this offseason.

There could be some interest in Choi in the trade market. The 6-foot-1, 260-pound first baseman can offer a bit of pop when playing at his best. Yet, his 2022 season was also a bit of a down year for his standards. In 113 games, he had 11 home runs, 52 RBIs, and a .233 batting average.

Topkin also noted that the Rays could elect not to tender him a qualifying offer as well. Basically, it seems that Choi will be done in Tampa Bay one way or another. Teams in need of a first baseman or DH certainly should consider making a push for him during the winter.
