MLB Rumors: Miami Marlins Catcher Becomes Trade Candidate

According to Derrick Goold, the Miami Marlins had no interest in trading Jacob Stallings this season, but there's a possibility that the team's feelings may have changed on that front. This is because of the solid play of fellow catcher Nick Fortes.

Stallings was traded to the Marlins before the start of the season by the Pittsburgh Pirates. After hitting .246 in 112 games with Pittsburgh last season, his numbers at the plate noticeably dropped, as he sported a .223 batting average. That is certainly a notable decline and is likely why the Marlins are at least considering the prospect of moving him.

If Stallings is officially shopped this season, there definitely would be interest in his services. Although he had a down year at the plate, he is a bounce-back candidate in 2023. Alas, let's see if a move comes to fruition from here.
