Mariners Recall Starter

He will serve as the 29th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers. 

The Seattle Mariners have recalled pitcher Justus Sheffield from Triple-A Tacoma.

Sheffield appears likely to take the ball at some point during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Tigers in Seattle. 

The twenty-six-year-old has thrown 6.2 scoreless innings over five relief appearances for the Mariners at the major-league level this season. 

In the minors this season, Sheffield has posted an ugly 6.99 ERA, 1.80 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts over 103 innings. He's made 24 starts and holds a 6-8 record.
