Dodgers Announce Game 3 Starter

This one is a bit of a surprise.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced that Tony Gonsolin will start Game 3 of the NLDS against the San Diego Padres on Friday.
Gonsolin was only able to go two innings in his return to the mound last Monday, but the Dodgers will give the twenty-eight-year-old ball in a pivotal Game 3 against the Padres in San Diego.

It's still possible that Gonsolin will be limited in this one and, regardless, shouldn't be expected to work too deep into the matchup.

Gonsolin has made two starts against the Padres this season. In the first one, on July 1, Gonsolin went 7.2 innings, allowed one earned run and struck out eight. The Dodgers won the game 5-1.

In the second game, on August 5, Gonsolin threw five shutout innings while striking out six in the Dodgers' 8-1 defeat of the Padres.

It will be Gonsolin versus Blake Snell on Friday night in Game 3.
