Cardinals Announce Game 1 and 2 Starters

The St. Louis Cardinals have made their decision on who will start Games 1 and 2 of the team's best-of-three series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

In Game 1, it will be Miles Mikolas drawing the start.

Mikolas had one of the best seasons of his career this year, posting a solid 3.29 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 153 strikeouts across 202 innings of work. He held a 12-13 record.

Mikolas has made two starts against the Phillies this season. In his first start against them, on July 1, Mikolas went 5.1 innings, allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits with one strikeout in the club's 5-3 loss.

In the second game, on July 11, the thirty-four-year-old had a much better outing, going 7.1 innings of one-run baseball, allowing six hits and striking out five. The Cardinals won that game 6-1.
Jose Quintana gets the start in Game 2 on Saturday.

Quintana, who was acquired by the Cardinals from the Pittsburgh Pirates at the trade deadline, registered a strong 2.93 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 137 strikeouts over 165 innings of work this season. He held a 6-7 record.

The thirty-three-year-old made just one start against the Phillies this season, back on July 29 while he was still on the Pirates. In that game, Quintana threw 5.2 innings of shutout baseball while allowing four hits and striking out four. The Pirates lost the game 4-2.

The Phillies have yet to announce their starters.
