Braves Infielder Elects to Explore Free Agency

He never ended up getting into a major league game with the Atlanta Braves.

Now, infielder Ryan Goins has elected free agency.
Goins was called up briefly in mid-August to the Braves active roster, but didn't end up getting into a game. The thirty-four-year-old has not appeared in a game in the majors since the pandemic-shortened 2020 season.

For his career, Goins has slashed .228/.278/.333, with 22 home runs, 158 RBIs, six stolen bases, and 154 runs scored across 555 games. He's spent five seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, one with the Kansas City Royals, and two with the Chicago White Sox.

At this stage in his career, Goins is really nothing more than an emergency depth piece. He likely won't get more than a minor league contract this off-season.
