Boston Red Sox Claim Pitcher Off Waivers

The Boston Red Sox have a new pitcher, as they have claimed Jake Reed off of waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.

Reed split this season between the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, and of course, Orioles. When called up to the majors, the 29-year-old had his fair share of struggles, as evidenced by his very high 7.36 ERA in 10 appearances. He will be looking to be more reliable in 2023 with Boston from here.

The Red Sox had issues with their bullpen this season (among plenty of other things), so it makes sense for them to take a look at Reed. Ultimately, there's no risk to this move, so let's see if it is one that ends up paying off for them.
