A's Rumors: 3 Players Not Expected Back Next Season

The Oakland A's began their full-on rebuild last offseason, but more moves are expected to occur this winter. As a result, we should see several players on Oakland move to different clubs this offseason. Let's discuss three who stand out.

Sean Murphy: The A's were shopping Sean Murphy at the deadline, but they decided to hold on to the 6-foot-3 catcher past the deadline. However, when it comes to this offseason, we should expect to see him traded. He is coming off of a career season and is under team control for multiple more years, so look for the A's to take advantage of his heightened trade value. With that, they also have top prospect Shea Langeliers ready to take on a bigger role behind the plate.

Paul Blackburn: It was a little surprising that Oakland did not trade Paul Blackburn at the deadline. The 28-year-old's trade value was at its highest after he made his first All-Star Game appearance. Although he cooled off during the second half of the year, there will still be a trade market for him and Oakland would be wise to take advantage of it.

Chad Pinder: The A's have traded away several of their veterans since last offseason. As a result, it seems more likely than not that they will let Chad Pinder leave via free agency instead of bringing him. Ultimately, it makes sense, as they are rebuilding, while Pinder is a seven-year veteran looking to play postseason baseball.
