Yankees Bad Stretch Continues, All-Star Placed on IL

It's been an awful stretch for the New York Yankees, who had injury added to their insulting 9-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays Friday night. All-Star outfielder Andrew Benintendi is now going to miss some time.

Benintendi has been placed on the 10-day injured list with right wrist inflammation, an injury that occurred on a swing during Friday night's game.

Manager Aaron Boone said they'll be getting more tests and imaging for more information on Benintendi's wrist. "It's inconclusive right now."

“He felt like something popped on his wrist, and he’s got some numbness in his fingers,” Boone said.

Losing a .300 hitter is the last thing the Yankees needed, as they've been having trouble scoring runs for some time now.

“He’s obviously an important guy in our lineup right now,” Boone said. “Especially with how we’ve been struggling offensively.”

Moves made as a result include the recall of OF Estevan Florial, as well as right-hander Ryan Weber, while lefty Anthony Banda has been DFA'd.
