Tampa Bay Rays Infielder Set To Return

According to Marc Topkin, the Tampa Bay Rays are likely to activate Wander Franco from the 10-day injured list for Friday's contest against the New York Yankees.

This is an excellent development, as Franco has missed the last two months due to a wrist injury. Yet, it appears that the young star is ready to return to the lineup, and it could not have come at a better time. The Rays are currently trying to catch the Yankees in the AL East standings and are in a grand position to lessen the gap between them. At the time of this writing, they are only 4.5 games back.

Franco's sophomore season has been a wee bit underwhelming, as he has just five home runs and a .260 batting average in 58 games. However, now that is healthy, it will be intriguing to see how the 21-year-old performs from here. It would not be surprising to see these stats go up noticeably before the year is out.
