Tampa Bay Rays Designate Pitcher For Assignment

The Tampa Bay Rays have designated Kevin Herget for assignment.

Herget made his first two MLB appearances for the Rays this season, where he had a 6.75 ERA. Overall, he did not do amazingly when called up, so perhaps his removal from the 40-man roster is not all too surprising.

Herget will now be hitting the waiver wire, where the rest of the league will have the chance to claim him. Teams in need of some pitching depth could take a chance on him, but if not, the Rays will then option him to Triple-A.
