Orioles Place Starter on Injured List

His season is over.

The Baltimore Orioles have placed starter Tyler Wells on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 20, with right shoulder inflammation.
Wells has really struggled since returning from an oblique strain earlier this month and now his season is over.

It was actually a pretty solid season for Wells, who was moved into the rotation for the first time. He posted a 4.25 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts over 103.2 innings pitched this season. He started 23 games and held a 7-7 record.

Because it's just inflammation he's injured with, the twenty-eight-year-old should have a fairly normal offseason. Wells should have a spot in the Orioles rotation next season.

He is a former 15th-round pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 2016 MLB Draft.
