Uh oh. The New York Mets have placed Max Scherzer on the 15-day injured list due to left oblique muscle fatigue.

RHP Max Scherzer has been placed on the 15-Day IL, retroactive to Sept. 4, with left oblique irritation.
This is a bit of a concerning development, as Scherzer missed time due to a left oblique injury earlier this year. Thus, the Mets are being cautious with him by placing him on the injured list.
Boy, this couldn't have come at a worse time, though. Due to a rough stretch of play, they are now tied with the Atlanta Braves and are on the verge of losing their NL East Division lead. Not having one of the best pitchers in the sport healthy during this stretch will not help them with that.
In 20 starts this season, Scherzer has a 9-4 record to go along with a 2.26 ERA.
