Dream Comes True Tonight For Angels Top Prospect

Just a week to go in the season, but it's never too late for a top prospect to make his major league debut. The Los Angeles Angels are making a dream come true tonight.

22-year-old Logan O'Hoppe gets the call, and he'll be starting behind the plate on Wednesday night for the Angels.

Acquired last month at the trade deadline from the Philadelphia Phillies for Brandon Marsh, he actually got to spend a day in the Angels clubhouse on Tuesday as part of the taxi squad, and he considered that a thrill. But the best was yet to come as they've now activated him for tonight.

“It’s a dream I’ve had since I was 2, as long as I can remember,” O’Hoppe said. “It hasn’t hit me yet fully. But I just think of the people that have helped me get to this point, especially the people back home (in New York). Hopefully, they can make some quick flights out here. I’m just super grateful. It’s an emotional day.”

O'Hoppe had been destroying opponents at Rocket City in Double-A since the trade, mashing 11 home runs and 33 RBIs in just 29 games. His OPS was 1.147.
