Cubs Promoting 12th-Ranked Prospect

The Chicago Cubs have selected the contract of pitcher Hayden Wesneski from Triple-A Iowa. 

League source confirms the Chicago Cubs will call up RHP Hayden Wesneski from Triple-A Iowa.

Wesneski is a Cy-Fair HS grad and Sam Houston State Bearkat.

Wesneski was acquired last month from the New York Yankees in exchange for reliever Scott Effross. 

The twenty-four-year-old prospect has posted an underwhelming 3.92 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 106 strikeouts over 110 innings at the Triple-A level this season. He's made 23 starts.

Wesneski is the Cubs' 12th-ranked prospect. He'll likely be used in a middle inning relief role moving forward.
