Cubs Promote Infielder for MLB Debut

The Chicago Cubs have selected the contract of infielder Jared Young from Triple-A Iowa.

The twenty-seven-year-old will be making his major league debut when he first appears in a game with the Cubs. 

In the minors this season, Young has slashed a pedestrian .228/.310/.723, with 16 home runs, 57 RBIs, three stolen bases and 60 runs scored over 395 at-bats. For his minor league career, Young has a .261 batting average, with 47 home runs, 245 RBIs and 25 stolen bases across 1,692 at-bats. 

Jared Young, from Prince George, British Columbia, becomes the 15th Canadian to play in the major leagues this season. 

He is a former 15th-round pick by the Chicago Cubs in the 2017 MLB Draft.
