Baltimore Orioles Designate Pitcher For Assignment

The Baltimore Orioles have designated Phoenix Sanders for assignment. This is in response to the team claiming Anthony Castro off of waivers from the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday.

Unfortunately for Sanders, the team claiming Castro off waivers made him the odd man out on their 40-man roster. As a result, the 27-year-old pitcher will now be placed on waivers and may be finding a new home in the near future. However, if he clears, he will not have the option to elect free agency, as he only has eight games of MLB experience on his resume.

Those eight games came during this season, but Sanders was a member of the Tampa Bay Rays during them. Thus, he has yet to make his debut for the Orioles, and this latest development has lowered the chances of him doing so. During his eight appearances as a Ray, Sanders was solid, as his 3.08 ERA shows well.

Nevertheless, let's see if another team takes a shot on Sanders from here.
