Baltimore Orioles Claim Catcher Off Waivers

The Baltimore Orioles have claimed Cam Gallagher off of waivers from the San Diego Padres. He will begin his tenure with the organization in Triple-A Norfolk.

With this move, the Orioles have added a catcher with plenty of MLB experience to their depth. Overall, that's not a bad thing at all, and that's especially true when noting that Baltimore is, shockingly, in the playoff race. Thus, having a little extra depth is a good thing for them.

Although Gallagher has been with the Padres, he did not appear in a major league game for them after being traded there at the deadline. He did, however, appear in 18 games with the Royals this season, where he had zero home runs, five RBIs, and a .214 batting average. Let's see if he can improve those numbers with the Orioles before the year is over.
