Washington Nationals Pitcher Elects Free Agency

After clearing waivers, Tyler Clippard has rejected an outright assignment by the Washington Nationals and instead has elected free agency.

Clippard appeared in four games with the Nationals during his reunion with the club. During them, he pitched 5.0 innings and allowed four earned runs. Overall, it wasn't enough for him to maintain his spot on their 40-man roster and now he will be looking for a new home elsewhere.

In 807 career games, Clippard sports a 56-48 record and 3.16 ERA. With that, he is a two-time All-Star and has recorded 74 saves.
