Pirates Rookie Pitcher Out for Season

It's a tough ending to a solid rookie season.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed pitcher Yerry De Los Santos on the 60-day injured list with a right shoulder latissimus dorsi muscle strain.

Prior to the August 11th game against the Arizona Diamondbacks where he left with an injury, De Los Santos was enjoying a solid rookie season, holding a 3.51 ERA, and recording 26 strikeouts across 25 innings.

Through an interpreter, the twenty-four-year-old said he felt tightness prior to Thursday's outing, but never felt any pain. He also said he didn't think the injury would warrant a trip to the 60-day injured list.

He showed a lot of promise in his major league debut this season and should be a valuable option for the rebuilding Pittsburgh Pirates in the coming years.
