Pirates Activate Third Baseman from IL; Option Infielder

The Pittsburgh Pirates have activated third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes off from the 10-day injured list.

Infielder Kevin Padlo has been optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Hayes rejoins the Pirates following a minimum stay on the IL due to a mid-back muscle strain.

The twenty-five-year-old has put up underwhelming numbers this season, hitting .251/.323/.358, with 44 runs scored, six home runs, 35 RBIs and 13 stolen bases.

He's batting third in Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves.

Kevin Padlo has been optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Padlo was brought up to replace the injured Hayes, after he was claimed off waivers from the Seattle Mariners earlier this month. The twenty-six year old has only played in 13 games this season, split between the San Francisco Giants, Mariners and Pirates.
