Outfielder DFA'd for the Second Time This Month

He's been designated for assignment yet again.

The Philadelphia Phillies announced Saturday that they have designated outfielder Bradley Zimmer for assignment.

Well, that didn't take long.

Zimmer was DFA'd by the Toronto Blue Jays on August 15 and quickly scooped up by the Phillies just three days later. Now, just nine days later, they've also DFA'd him.

It's clear now that Zimmer was merely a short-term replacement for the injured Brandon Marsh and, now that Marsh is returning, the club has no need for Zimmer anymore.

The former top prospect has really struggled offensively this season, slashing just .130/.216/.250, with two home runs, three RBI and two stolen bases across 86 games and 92 at-bats.

However, Zimmer's speed and elite defense may still make him an attractive add for some teams.
