Orioles Option Infielder; DFA Pitcher

The Baltimore Orioles have optioned infielder Tyler Nevin to Triple-A Norfolk.

The move opens a roster for top-prospect Gunnar Henderson, who is joining the Orioles on Wednesday in Cleveland.

The Orioles have also designated pitcher Denyi Reyes for assignment.
Nevin has batted just .196/.296/.261, with two home runs and 16 RBIs over 56 games at the major league level this season.

The twenty-five-year-old is a former 1st-round pick (38th overall) of the Colorado Rockies in the 2015 MLB Draft.

The Orioles have designated Denyi Reyes for assignment.

In a small sample size, Reyes has actually been quite good with the Orioles this season, posting a 2.35 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and three strikeouts over 7.2 innings pitched.

In the minors, this season, the twenty-five-year-old has been brutal, posting a 6.75 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts over 48 innings. He'll likely clear waivers and remain with the organization as extra pitching depth.
