Mets Infielder Headed to Injured List

It looks like he can't play through it anymore.

New York Mets infielder Eduardo Escobar is headed to the 10-day injured list.

Escobar had been feeling discomfort in his side over the weekend and underwent a precautionary MRI which didn't reveal any significant issues. However, Escobar said he still felt discomfort when swinging a bat.

It appears to be more than just a day-to-day issue and rather than risk this becoming a bigger issue than it is, the Mets will give him an extended period of rest and recovery.

It's yet another injury to the Mets, who also lost infielder Luis Guillorme earlier this week. Number-two ranked prospect Brett Baty has been recalled, likely as Escobar's replacement.

On the season, the thirty-three-year-old has hit .216 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs. The Mets should make an official announcement within the coming days.
