Mets Activate Third Baseman from Injured List

He only ended up requiring a minimum stay on the injured list.

The New York Mets have activated third baseman Eduardo Escobar from the 10-day injured list.

Escobar returns to the Mets lineup following a minimum IL stint due to a left oblique strain.

It would appear that the Mets would send top prospect Brett Baty back down to the minors, as he was filling in for the injured Escobar. However, the club announced that Escobar will split time with Baty at third base moving forward.

There's a good chance the playing time will be decided by the pitcher on the mound, meaning Escobar will probably face left-handed pitchers exclusively.

Escobar has hit for an underwhelming .216 batting average, but has displayed some pop, hitting 12 home runs and driving in 44 runs this season.
