Mariners Acquire Veteran Catcher from Giants

The Seattle Mariners are acquiring catcher Curt Casali from the San Franciso Giants for pitcher Michael Stryffeler, per Robert Murray.

Casali has appeared in 41 games for the Giants this season, hitting .231/.325/.370, with four home runs and 14 RBIs. The thirty-three year old is currently on the injured list with an oblique strain, but he is a strong defensive catcher and will bring some veteran leadership to Seattle. He will likely split time with Cal Raleigh behind the plate, upon his return.

The Giants pick up minor league reliever Michael Stryffeler in return. In 35 innings pitched at the Double-A level this season, the twenty-six-year-old has a strong 2.27 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 57 strikeouts.
