Mariners Acquire Starter from Giants

The Seattle Mariners have acquired left-handed pitcher Matthew Boyd from the San Francisco Giants for catcher Andy Thomas

Boyd has yet to pitch this season after undergoing flexor tendon surgery. In 78 innings pitched for the Tigers last season, Boyd posted a solid 3.89 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and 67 strikeouts with a 3-8 record.

The Giants signed Boyd this past March to a one-year deal, but he never made an appearance for them. The thirty-one-year-old recently threw a 40-pitch bullpen session and should be able to start or work in relief for the Mariners at some point in the near future.
