Blue Jays Only Left-Handed Reliever Placed on 15-Day Injured List

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed reliever Tim Mayza on the 15-day injured list with a dislocated right shoulder.

This is a big blow to the Blue Jays bullpen, not only because Mayza was sporting a 2.88 ERA this season, but also because he is the lone left-handed arm in the team's bullpen.

The injury was ugly, as Mayza collided with the sliding Minnesota Twins player and was down for quite a while, holding his arm.

The thirty-year-old has been a significant part of the Blue Jays' bullpen this year, posting a 2.88 ERA over 34 innings.

When asked about the injury and Mayza's timeline, Blue Jays' manager John Schneider said the team is hopeful his season is not done. He also said, "If anything he's shown he's resilient coming off injuries before and we'll have him down the stretch.

Resilient indeed. Mayza once had Tommy John surgery and also surgery to repair a Grade 3 Flexor Tendon tear. He came back from both and made the team out of Spring Training. Hopefully, he can do so again.
