As Expected, Oft-Injured Twin Heads To IL

It's a familiar refrain around the Minnesota Twins: Byron Buxton has been placed on the IL. This time it's a hip strain.

On the bright side, manager Rocco Baldelli said they believe they "were able to avoid major injury.

"He never wants to be off the field, ever. ... Luckily, it doesn’t sound like we are going to have to have that discussion about him missing a long period of time."

In between various injury stints, Buxton has played 92 games this season, and has an .832 OPS with 28 home runs, 51 RBIs, and 61 runs scored.

He's also been dealing with a sore knee for most of the season, prompting Baldelli to say, "I don't know what percentage he's at, but it's not a high percentage of what he can normally do physically."

The All-Star outfielder signed a 7-year, $100M contract last offseason.
