"Absurd!": First 100 MPH Off-Speed Pitch In MLB History

Minnesota Twins rookie Jhoan Duran has established himself as a flame-throwing force out of the bullpen in his rookie season. But Monday night he really made jaws drop, pulling off an all-time major league first.

The first pitcher in big league history to throw an off-speed pitch at 100 mph!

The pitch is the "splinker", and Twins manager Rocco Baldelli is feeding off Duran's electric stuff. "That pumps you up like very few things I've ever seen from a pitcher. Ever. The end goal is to get three outs. There are a lot of different ways to do that. But my god, that is some insane stuff."

"He's a one-of-a-kind type of pitcher," added Baldelli.

All Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts could do after facing Duran is just shake his head in disbelief.

That's pretty much the reaction all of us have right now watching Duran pitch.
