Rays To Lose Another Key Member of Starting Lineup

Already reeling over the news that Wander Franco could miss some serious time, the Tampa Bay Rays have also placed center fielder Kevin Kiermaier back on the injured list with the same hip issue that kept him out of the lineup last month.

The fact that Kiermaier admits that his hip feels as bad as last month when he got a cortisone shot and missed 10 days with the injury, is not a good sign.

“It’s just some of those things creeping back in that area,’' Kiermaier said.

The usually strong runner was even pinch-run for in Saturday's game. “My hip just didn’t feel great, and Cash decided to take me out,” Kiermaier said. “I wasn’t moving around as good as I’d like to.’'

Not telling yet how much time Kiermaier will miss this time around.

The Rays have called up infielder Jonathan Aranda and outfielder Luke Raley as roster replacements, while Josh Lowe and Brett Phillips will likely split time in center field in Kiermaier's absence.
