Rays' Starter to Return Sunday

Rays' pitcher Jeffrey Springs is expected to start on Sunday against the Royals.

Out since July 10 with lower leg tightness, Springs will make his return on Sunday against the Royals. The left-handed pitcher is having a fantastic breakout season, posting a 2.53 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 64 innings. He has a 3-2 record on the season.

Last season, the twenty-nine-year-old posted a 3.43 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, and 63 strikeouts in 44 innings. He also converted two saves.

The Rays have slowly eased Springs into the rotation this season and he's responded brilliantly, being their second starting best pitcher, when healthy, this season.
