Rays' Leading Hitter Shut Down for Two Weeks

The Rays have placed outfielder Harold Ramirez on the 10-day injured list with a fractured right thumb, retroactive to July 18.

Ramirez suffered the fracture in a game Sunday against the Orioles. The ball got away from Orioles' pitcher Jordan Lyles in the first inning and came up to hit Ramirez in the right hand. He remained in the game, before being replaced in the second inning.

Ramirez has perhaps been the Rays' best hitter this season, slashing .329/.446/.825, with four home runs, 35 RBIs, and three stolen bases.

Roman Quinn, the Rays' new signing, will replace Ramirez in his absence.
