Orioles Lose Starter to Injured List

The Baltimore Orioles have placed pitcher Tyler Wells on the 15-day injured list with left side discomfort.
Wells started the game Wednesday night against the Rays but had to make an early exit after just 4.1 innings, experiencing lower back discomfort. Wells gave up four runs in the outing while striking out five.

The twenty-seven year old has been fairly solid for the Orioles this season, posting a 3.90 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts in 94 innings. He holds a 7-6 record on the season.

The Baltimore Orioles are surprisingly contenders now, posting a 49-49 record and sitting just four games back of the Rays for the third AL Wild Card spot.

It will be interesting to see who the Orioles use to fill Wells' rotation spot. They have plenty of options in the minors, one name, in particular, being DL Hall (No. 4 prospect) who's averaging 15.1 K/9.
