MLB Rumors: Two All-Star Sons Head Up Sunday's MLB Draft

The Baltimore Orioles have the No. 1 pick in Sunday's MLB Draft, and they'll have some top talent, with some top bloodlines to choose from. The consensus is that the top two available players are Druw Jones, and Jackson Holliday.

If those names sound familiar, they should. Druw Jones, not surprisingly, is the son of Andruw Jones, the former 5-time All-Star of Atlanta Braves fame. Papa Andruw is recognized as one of the best defensive center fielders of all-time, winning 10 straight Gold Gloves. He also slugged 434 career home runs and added 152 stolen bases.

Son Druw is a high schooler, but with all the tools and pedigree of his all-time great father. “Of all the kids with bloodlines and their dads played in the big leagues, he’s as close to his dad as anyone I've ever seen,” said one MLB scout. "This kid plays center field about as good as you can play center field. He could play Double-A center field right now. He’s that good defensively.”

He also has the power-speed mix of his dad.

As for Jackson Holliday, he is the son of 7-time All-Star, Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals great Matt Holliday. Dad finished his 15-year career with a .299 average and an .889 OPS.

Jackson is a dynamic shortstop prospect, unlike his father who was a power bat in the outfield. The 18-year-old was Baseball America’s National High School Player of the Year. His plate skills are described as "explosive", and his great arm makes him a plus fielder at short as well. Trevor Story is his major league comp.

The Orioles are said to have five players in mind, so it's unknown which way they'll go with the No. 1 pick.
