MLB Rumors: Insider Ranks Mets Top 3 Trade Possibilities

The New York Mets are in the market for hitting. Naturally, the big catch is superstar Juan Soto. But whether the Washington Nationals would be comfortable trading him within the division is in question.

With that in mind, Jon Heyman of the New York Post ranks the top 3 most likely Mets' trade targets before August 2nd.

1. Josh Bell

Yes, Soto's teammate is also a prime target of the Mets. And because he'll be a free agent after the season, the Nationals would have no problem trading him to the Mets for, essentially, three months. He's having the best year of his career, hitting .311, with 13 HR, 50 RBIs, and an .895 OPS. As a switch-hitter, he'd offer nice protection for Pete Alonso in the lineup.

2. CJ Cron

The Colorado Rockies first baseman is having his career year as well, currently hitting .298, with 21 HR, 69 RBIs, and a .902 OPS. He certainly loves the thin air of Colorado, and does not want to leave. His home/road splits are extreme, so it's buyer beware here, as his numbers Coors Field are .352 avg, 16 HR, 53 RBIs, 1.067 OPS, while on the road, Cron is at .229 avg,  5 HR, 16 RBIs,  .695 OPS.

3. Trey Mancini

Are the Baltimore Orioles going to be sellers? That is the big question. They're sitting at .500, 3.5 games back of a Wild Card spot. But if Mancini is available, he'd be a tremendous get for the Mets. He's hitting .277 with 9 HR, 37 RBIs, and a .769 OPS.
