MLB Rumors: Dodgers and Reds In Trade Discussions

Perhaps the top pitcher available on the trade market this summer is having his best season in years. And contenders are more than taking notice. According to MLB Insider Jon Morosi, the Los Angeles Dodgers have had talks with the Cincinnati Reds about starter Luis Castillo.

Like every team planning for a playoff run, the Dodgers are looking to shore up their starting rotation, and there's no better place to start than Cincinnati. Castillo is currently sporting a 2.92 ERA in 12 starts for the Reds, with a 1.10 WHIP and 9.4 K/9.

Castillo missed the first month of the season with a shoulder injury, then got off to a slow start to his season in May (as he always does), before straightening things out. He's allowed just two earned runs in his last 20 innings, while striking out 25 against just 5 walks.

And while the Dodgers are "definitely involved", they will have some serious competition to win the Castillo trade sweepstakes; an American League team, in desperate need of pitching, is said to be the "most aggressive" team on Castillo's trail
