MLB Rumors: Boston Red Sox Interested In New York Mets First Baseman

According to Ken Rosenthal, the Red Sox are expressing interest in Mets first baseman Dominic Smith.

Smith's name has been linked to the Red Sox in the past, so it isn't surprising to hear that talks are continuing to heat up involving him. He is a trade target who makes sense for the Red Sox, as they need help at first base. Furthermore, he is also under team control until after the 2024 season, so he would be more than a rental.

Smith would benefit from a change of scenery. Things haven't gone well for him with the Mets this year, and he even spent time in Triple-A. In 58 games, he has zero home runs, 11 RBIs, and a .194 batting average.
