Former Cy Young Winner DFA’d For 2nd Time This Season

Sometimes, they say, the higher you go, the harder you fall. Left-handed starter Dallas Keuchel won a Cy Young award for the Houston Astros in 2015, and was a two-time All-Star there. But since leaving Houston, things haven't gone so well. He's now been DFA'd for the second time this season.

The 34-year-old went 2-5 with a 7.88 ERA for the ChiSox to start the year. He was designated for assignment by them, in this the last year of his 3-year, $55.5M contract. He lists back problems over the last three seasons as the root of his troubles.

The Arizona Diamondbacks claimed him after Chicago let him go, and the results were no better. In his 4 starts with the Snakes, he went 0-2 with a 9.64 ERA.

Keuchel enters the free agent market now; should be interesting to see if any team desperate for starting pitching gives him another shot.
