Blue Jays Get Ace Back for Thursday's Game

Blue Jays will get their ace back Thursday night against the Royals.

Kevin Gausman returns to the Blue Jays rotation after missing the last 12 days to an ankle injury.

Gausman suffered a bone bruise in his right ankle on July 02, while pitching against the Rays, causing him to leave his start after just two innings. The thirty-one year old threw a bullpen session on Tuesday and said he felt good, so he's officially been cleared to start Thursday in Toronto.

Gausman has been a very effective starter for the Blue Jays this season, posting a 2.86 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and a remarkable 100/16 K/BB ratio across 88 innings.

The Blue Jays will be glad to get him back on the mound as the team has been sliding lately, winning just three of their last 10 games putting them tied for third in the AL East.

The team is 1-0 since bench coach John Schneider took over after Charlie Montoyo was relieved of his duties as manager earlier this week.
