Yankees Acquire INF/OF From Reds

The New York Yankees just bought themselves a utility man for some organizational depth. They've acquired infielder/outfielder Jake Bauers from the Cincinnati Reds.

This will be the 4th organization for the 26-year-old Bauers, and he'll be assigned to the Yankees Triple-A team in Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Bauers has played in over 300 games in the majors over the past three years, with the Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians and Seattle Mariners. Thus far, he hasn't really hit his stride in the majors, accumulating a .213 average and a .655 OPS.

In the minors, he's been somewhat of a power-speed threat, homering 58 times while stealing 67 bases, along with a .270 average and a .766 OPS. This season at Louisville, however, has been a bit of a struggle for Bauers, as he's hitting just .135 in 96 at-bats.
