Phillies Call Up Starter to Pitch Friday

The Philadelphia Phillies will face the Washington Nationals in a double-header this Friday.

Left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter will get one of the starts for the Phillies.

Falter has pitched 15 innings in the majors this year and has a 4.20 ERA and 1.47 WHIP. Despite such underwhelming big league numbers, the starter has been more impressive in the minors. In his three appearances for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Falter has put up an impressive 1.54 ERA and 0.69 WHIP. That's not to mention 28 strikeouts over 23 innings.

Falter's reliable performance in Lehigh Valley certainly makes him an attractive callup option for the Phillies.

Should his minor league success carry over into the MLB, it's not unlikely that the 25-year old could secure himself a spot in Philadelphia's bullpen for the remainder of the season.
