Nationals Designate Veteran Infielder For Assignment

The Washington Nationals have designated Dee Strange-Gordon for assignment.

This is a little bit of a surprising move, as Strange-Gordon has quietly been having a good season for the Nationals. In 22 games, he sports a very solid .305 batting average and has three stolen bases. However, that wasn't enough for him to maintain his spot on their 40-man roster.

The Nationals will either trade or place Strange-Gordon on waivers by the end of the week. Given the year he's had, perhaps another team will take a chance on him. He offers great versatility and could be a solid veteran for a playoff-bound team to have for depth. Alas, let's see what happens.
