MLB Rumors: Padres Shopping First Baseman

The San Diego Padres have been trying to trade Eric Hosmer since last season, and that is still the case today. According to Mark Feinsand, the Padres are "aggressively" shopping the first baseman.

The primary obstacle that is making it hard for the Padres to find Hosmer a new home is his large contract. he has four years left on his deal and will make $60 million by the end of it. That is a lot of money to pay a player who isn't an All-Star.

Hosmer has had a solid 2022 season, however, so maybe that will help the Padres finalize a trade. In 63 games, the 32-year-old has five home runs, 30 RBIs, and a .278 batting average.
