Cubs Place Pitcher on Injured List, Recall Pitcher Sent Down on Monday

The Cubs have placed pitcher Daniel Norris on the 15-day injured list with a left index strain. Pitcher Adrian Sampson has been recalled in a corresponding move.

Norris has had a rough first season with the Cubs, posting an ugly 7.24 ERA, 1.39 WHIP with 40 strikeouts in 27 innings.

It's unclear how long the left-handed pitcher will be out for.

Sent down on Monday, Adrian Sampson has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa to fill Norris' void.

Sampson has appeared in 5.2 scoreless innings for the Cubs this season, posting a 0.53 WHIP with five strikeouts. In 28 innings for Triple-A Iowa, Sampson has a 3.81 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 18 strikeouts.
