Cardinals Activate Outfielder

After being out since May 18, outfielder Tyler O'Neill is back and in the lineup for the St. Louis Cardinals.

O'Neill has been out with a right shoulder impingement. He's coming off a 3-game rehab assignment at Triple-A Memphis, where he went 5-for-13.

A two-time Gold Glover in the outfield, O'Neill had been off to a dreadful start this season with the Cards, hitting just .195 with a pair of home runs and a .552 OPS. That's in stark contrast to his 2021 campaign, when he batted .286 with a .912 OPS, and belted 34 homers. He finished 8th in balloting for NL MVP.

The 26-year-old will try to right the ship as he returns to the lineup.

Right-hander Jake Walsh, who had just been called up from Memphis, now head back down to the farm, to make room for O'Neill on the roster.
